You get to build your perfect space for reading and writing. What’s it like?
I really like this prompt as I sit typing in my living room in my little corner of our sectional couch looking out the giant set of window at the sunrise.
My perfect reading nook where I can also do my writing is a cozy space. I have started it but often find myself in the living room instead because once I get into the nest, I don’t want to leave. The nest has a giant soft loveseat. One of those oversized ones that you can basically lay in. It’s soft and fuzzy and a sensory heaven. It has cup holders and charging ports. I have a fireplace in front of it and a galaxy projector to light the space in the dark. In the mornings I can look out at the sunrise through the sliding glass door to the lanai. On either side of the nest are tall, soft lamps with treasures that have been collected over the years. My book shelves are near by. Important posters hang on the walls. The best part is I can easily shift outside to curl up on the patio furniture if the weather is right.
I know the prompt was meant to be creative thought into what would I build my perfect space to look like and have. But I love my house and my reading nook that was already there. It is right across from my office. It is where I do my therapy sessions and where I retreat when I need a little bit of me time. It’s in the center of the house and not all private but it’s mine and it makes me happy.
This whole house makes me happy. As much as I love my nest, I love my mornings on the couch. I love that I work outside on the lanai when I work from home. I love that we have a fire pit and plenty of seating for family chats and friendly hangouts. I love the space. I especially love that we live on a nature preserve and get all kinds of wildlife in our backyard.
All of what I have here is perfect for me, well as perfect as possible since perfection does not exist. The nest could use a ceiling fan. There’s lots we want to do to the house. But this is our little (not so little) slice of heaven. and I am content.
