Daily Prompt – December 31, 2025

What makes you feel nostalgic?

Nostalgia is an odd thing. It can be triggered by the most random moment or object. It’s really hard to pinpoint the things that make me nostalgic.

For example, I recently did a wood burning project for the art challenge I’m participating in and looking at the graphite transfer paper and seeing a particular image from a previous project made me nostalgic. Yet, I can do the same thing at other times or even see that image in other moments and it not have that same impact. I think it’s more of where my head is than any specific trigger.

I will say, writing this blog has upped the amount of nostalgia in my life a lot. The thought exercises of these prompts and writing about the creative things I’m doing has been triggering a lot of memories and nostalgic moments. It’s been nice.

I think that is ultimately the key to nostalgia for me. Quiet reflective time. Sitting here in my cozy spaces thinking and letting the feelings flow.

I think this is a good prompt for New Year’s Eve. I like to use this time to look back and think on the things I’ve accomplished this year. It way better than focusing on the year ahead. That will come tomorrow.
