What books do you want to read?
The list of books I want to read is short, very short. Not because I don’t like to read or want to read. Just the opposite in fact. I’ve made a point of adding reading time to my daily habits. The list is short because I don’t pay much attention to what is popular or highly promoted.
I have authors I enjoy, some I follow more closely than others. Maria V. Snyder is one of those. I know I have at least one book of hers I’m behind on. Jasper FForde is another. I just finished a long awaited sequel to his book “Shades of Gray” called “Red Side Story.” I know I have a book or 2 of his plus one coming out to read.
Aside from those, I find books to read rather organically. I like going to a bookstore and looking at the fiction tables for a title or cover that calls my attention. Yes, I judge a book by its cover, at least initially. Once I see one that seems interesting, I pick it up and read the description. If that didn’t turn me off or lose my attention too badly, I’ll read the first page. The books that I find hard to stop reading are the books that come home with me. If my attention wanders to much while reading then its not a book thats meant for me.
