Are there any activities or hobbies you’ve outgrown or lost interest in over time?
The simple answer is yes.
The more complicated answer is that I go in phases. I hyperfixate on a hobby for a while then completely lose interest in it but some point in a distant future I’ll get a wild urge to do that thing again. Sometimes I’m smart enough to remember that this will happen and I hold on to the supplies so that when it does I have everything. Other times, I think I’m really and truly done with something and I’ll get rid of everything connected to it only to have to rebuy it all when the hobby creeps back in.
Sometimes the hobbies morph. I used to be heavily into collecting rocks and minerals. I even had a rock tumbler as a kid, the professional kind not the little plastic one for kids. I don’t do that any more but I still enjoy going to the shows and I still have elements of the collection.
The one hobby I haven’t picket up in a very long time is cross stitch. I have at least one project in my craft space but I haven’t had the desire to pick it up. I think about it every now and then but it’s hard to get back into. Of course now that I’ve written about it that might change. That’s how my brain works.
The only activity I can say I fully gave up is playing the clarinet. I did that in middle and high school but not since. I don’t miss it. I had fun with it but it wasn’t really a hobby or something I probably would have pursued on my own.
