Daily Prompt – March 8, 2026

I have 2 middle names. I don’t particularly care for either but for very different reasons.

At birth I was given the middle name Beth. It is after my great grandmother Belle. The reason I was never a fan of this is that my parents never really intended it as a middle name and I was often JamieBeth which just feels off to me. It feels very farm girl, which isn’t me. I never use this unless I have to.

That’s where the second middle name comes in. When I got married the first time, I didn’t want to change my name but I wanted to honor my husband. I opted to take his last name as my middle name. I’m not going to list it here for privacy reasons. The difficulty now, is that I am stuck with that name. It was on my license which meant it had to go on other things and now it’s on my passport. I really want to get rid of it. I’d go back to Beth, use just the initial B, or have nothing. But I hate that I still have that connection however, which it was each to change my middle name to that, getting it off seems to be more of a challenge. One I just don’t have the energy for.

So yeah, thats where we are. I’m just grateful that they both use the same initial because thats what I use most of the time
