What is one word that describes you?
This is one of those prompts that can pose a challenge. I mean lots of words can and probably should describe me. However, because I am who I am, I can’t help but dwell on the idea that many of those words do not always describe me. I mean yes I’m intelligent but I do dumb things, don’t we all? Yes, I can be acerbically sarcastic (ok thats 2) but I am also insanely literal (also 2). I can be friendly and outgoing but I am also strongly introverted and standoffish. I am unique and often do things my own way but I also blend in like the best of chameleons.
So the challenge here is what is one word that truly, always, and completely describes me? Short.
Yes, short. I am a whopping 4’8.5” tall. Yes, the half inch does in fact matter but I will also air on the side of 8 vs 9 when I have to enter my height and it doesn’t allow for the half. Yes, I’ve heard the jokes. Yes, I had to have accommodations for drivers ed. Yes, I am with tall people so they can reach things for me constantly. Yes, I will climb on counters if necessary, though less the older I get. Yes finding clothes is hard and I have shopped in the kids section.
One of my nicknames for this reason is Smurf. Yes, it’s one I gave my self sort of. It’s a story for another time. But I find it appropriate, joking that I am only 3 apples high.
So yeah, the one immutable fact about me, the one word that can describe me that will be true in perpetuity is short.
