Daily Prompt – April 1, 2026

What are your morning rituals? What does the first hour of your day look like?

I love this prompt. I think everyone should have a good morning ritual. I know people love to sleep to the last minute then rush to get ready for work and all that but I’ve found taking time for myself in the morning to be more restorative than an extra hour of sleep that may not even be good.

My morning ritual starts by grabbing my phone, journal, and iPad and moving them to the living room while also turning on the kitchen light. I then make my way to my bathroom where I take care of all the morning hygiene things. This includes getting my mouth guard in the ultrasonic cleaner. When all thats done, I make my way back to the living room.

I check to see what the daily prompt is so I can prepare for my writing but before I write, I have another creative moment. I spend 10-20 minutes coloring in a coloring book planner that I have. It’s a new page every week and if I don’t finish the image in that week, I move on. It’s not about completing, it’s about starting the day creatively and softly. It’s usually 10 minutes but if it’s a more complex image I’ll do up to 20 minutes.

After I finish the coloring, I check email and then I come here to write my daily prompt response. After that is up, I do my journal for the morning. After that, it’s time to get ready for work or the rest of my day. Yes, I follow this same ritual on the weekends too or days off. It’s easier for me that way.

And thats about the first hour of my day, maybe 2.
