Write about your first computer.
I got my first computer when I was 16 or 17 I think? That’s 30 years ago for those of you keeping track so the memory is a bit fuzzy. I think it was a Dell but I could be wrong. It was definitely a Windows PC. I used Apple computers in school early on like most of my generation. The Apple IIe, to be exact. At home and as I got older the computers all transitioned to PCs. It was connected to dial-up, AOL to be exact. Fortunately, I had my own line so I didn’t have to worry about my mom keeping me off the internet.
My biggest struggle with the computer back then was it was of course a desktop and I was a child of divorce. This meant the computer lived in my room at my mother’s but I spent every weekend and every other Monday and Tuesday with my father. This meant not having my computer during those times.
The computer went with me to college (the first time) and is what kept me occupied when I wasn’t going to school. IRC chat was where I spent most of my time.
I’ll be honest though, I really don’t remember much about the computer. It was a tool that existed. It did things. It was useful. It was too many years ago for me to keep track of. Ive had a lot of computers since!
