Daily Prompt – April 4, 2026

I used to watch the Olympics more but now they don’t really hold the same excitement for me. That said, when I did watch or if I were to watch now, Gymnastics and Figure Skating, no matter the gender, were my favorites. There is something about the combination of strength and artistry in those 2 sports that captured my attention the most. I also grew up in a time where we made the athletes in those sports to be hero’s and role models rather than ridiculing them for taking care of their physical and mental health.

There is great meaning in the ideals behind the Olympics but there is also a lot of negativity especially regarding how the athletes are treated and how we allow competition to become the sport not the sport itself. Honestly, I’d rather watch a gymnastics or ice skating expo than competition. I’d rather see all athletes cheered on and supported for what ever they do than see them feel like they failed because of a score. Or worse yet because they chose their body over the nation.
