What’s something you’d love to see in the future, but know you probably won’t live to witness?
This feels like a perfect prompt for 4 days into Pride Month. I would love to see global mutual acceptance and inclusion. I want our society to stop creating enemies where none exist. We can all live our personal lives without those being an affront or attack on someone else. Just because it is not the life you would choose does not make it wrong, illegal, or immoral.
We spend too much time policing the behaviors and thoughts of others rather than working on ourselves or being present with our loved ones. If we could just look beyond differences for commonalities we could learn to embrace each other for the humans we all are.
Unfortunately, for many people this concept is too radical. It is easier to hate and fear that which you do not understand than take the time to learn about it. This isn’t about approval or support, it’s acceptance and tolerance. It’s leaving each other alone to live our lives as we see fit. It’s about not manufacturing harm where none exists.
I do think we will see this in the future. That could be all the Star Trek speaking. I do not, however, think it will happen in my lifetime sadly.
Happy Pride Month. 🏳️🌈
