What’s a common misconception people have about happiness?

I think a common misconception about happiness is that it can be found in objects. Sure objects can bring joy or be pleasurable but true happiness does not lie in what we own or have. It’s not even in how we use what we have. I realize this might sound odd from the same person who talks about not being able to live a minimalist life. I’m not saying I don’t love the things in my life, I absolutely do. They make life easier and more enjoyable in so many ways. What I am saying is none of that is true happiness. True happiness comes from inside. It comes from loving ourselves for who we are. It comes from finding contentment and peace with our lives. It doesn’t come from the latest gadget or most expensive jewelry. It doesn’t come from a fast car or a big house.
