Daily Prompt – July 17, 2026

I don’t know about “best” but my “favorite” (yes, I’m being sarcastic) excuse is “I didn’t know.” Of course there’s variations on this but it comes down to the person claiming they didn’t know how to do something, that they had to do it, or anything along those lines. Sure, there are times this is not an excuse but a reality, however often its what people say when they didn’t do something they were supposed to and don’t want to get in trouble for that. It’s incredibly irritating because it means someone else not only has to do the work but likely has to show this person, again, how to do it.
