If you could erase one trend from history, what would it be?
If I was someone who enjoyed political discourse, the answer would be easy. The “make America great again” trend needs to never exist. But as I do not wish to engage in politics on this page, as stated many a time, we will leave it at that and pick a different trend.
I almost didn’t think of this when contemplating what I wanted to write about this morning but my partner reminded me and it absolutely needs to be erased. The Gen Alpha 6 7 thing. It is the most useless nonsense to ever enter mainstream culture. And I am a Gen Xer, we know useless trends like no other. What’s worse than the fact that this saying literally means nothing is there incessant need to call it out any time those two numbers happen to occur together which is more often than not. Many even go so far as to do it just when hearing 6 so that they can squeal and yell and make a big deal over again, literally nothing.

Being an early Gen-X person myself (no worries, I don’t believe it determines my worth, personality, or beliefs) I didn’t have a clue about “the Gen Alpha 67 thing.” Your description of it meaning nothing at all and saying it repetitively, made me curious. So, I googled it. As you can imagine, all kinds of information from multiple sites pinged back. I read a lot of them. It left me shaking my head and thinking to myself, “Ummm, OK. Why?” SMH. 🤔 There’s 10 minutes that I will never get back! Then, it occurred to me that I’m one of those silly older folks that tries to make sense out of something that is inherently nonsensical.
