Daily Prompt – July 25, 2026

I very rarely make promises, in fact I’ve written before about how much I dislike the word. That said there is one promise I made to myself, that was so important I tattooed it to my chest.

I’ve written about the origins of the tattoo before and we all know I hate repeating myself. So we’re going to focus on the actual promise.

I promised myself I would never go back to a toxic work environment. No matter the sacrifices I had to make. No matter the struggles I might face finding a job. Once I walk away from it, I’m not going back. I never have. I’ve been fortunate that I’ve never even come close to considering it.

This promise of walking away and not turning back has been very useful, not just with work but all toxic situations. I encourage everyone to consider it.
