Do you vote in political elections?

Sigh – here we go with politics again. Yes, I vote in political elections. No, I’m not going to say how I vote or who I vote for. I imagine thats pretty obvious from my content that has touched on politics in the past and from who I am in general.

What I will say, is this is one thing I miss about living in Virginia. Florida makes you declare a party and for primary elections, you can only vote in that party’s primary. This isn’t how it works in Virginia. In Virginia you vote in which ever primary you want.

So you may be wondering why this bothers me. Well I generally don’t like aligning with any party. I think we should through the party system out the window. It’s a good chunk of what’s wrong with politics in this country if you ask me but I’m not a political scientist. Being able to vote in any primary allowed me to have an active role in shaping who the candidates were from the party I felt I needed to influence the most. Whether that be supporting a candidate I really like or helping to pull votes away from a candidate that I thought would be horrible for us.

The only way I can do that in Florida is to state that I align with the party I want to have that influence over and I fundamentally have issues with this because I fundamentally do not agree with any party 100 percent of the time. This unfortunately means my vote doesn’t get counted during primary elections and I only get to vote in general elections.
