Daily Prompt – May 11, 2026

I think I’ve mentioned before that I don’t recall much of my childhood, at least not clearly. Many of the memories I have come from stories I was told that have sort of allowed me to piece together a memory. So with that in mind I don’t particularly remember being completely obsessed with much as a kid.

I do remember liking Rainbow Brite a good bit as well as Jem and the Holograms. I also remember playing with a set of dolls no one seems to remember called Spectra. They were like Barbies and the Jem and the Hologram dolls but they were made to look metallic and they had a “robotic” dog. I have been able to find them on the internet so at least i know I didn’t make them up.

The thing that I liked about them and about Jem was the fashion, I think if there was anything I was possibly obsessed with as a kid, it was fashion. Not like what I was wearing but like concepts and design and what fashion could be. I wanted to be a fashion designer. I even has one of those fashion designer stencil toys where you rub the crayon over it to get the impression and then color it.

I was into coloring back then too, I guess.
