Daily Prompt – June 10, 2026

Hands down, La Vie Boheme from RENT. Honestly the entire soundtrack is my go to when I need to clear my head and feel good. It not a happy soundtrack but it puts me in a place that is, it’s hard to explain. It scratches a certain itch in my brain I guess.

Don’t get me wrong there lots of songs that put me in a good mood. I have 2 Spotify playlists filled with them not to mention 2 artists who can do no wrong when it comes to that. But there is just something about the RENT soundtrack and specifically that song that will always set me right.

I have been a fan of the show since it premiered while I was in high school. Yes, I’m dating myself. I’ve seen it on Broadway a few times. With the original cast even. It is a show that always spoke to me on many levels. La Vie Boheme, specifically because it is a celebration of life for all its uniqueness and all the things we don’t want to let people celebrate but should. I have always been a champion of those of us who walk the different paths. That find societal norms claustrophobic and asinine. This song is an anthem.

It’s been too long since I’ve listened to it, that will need to change. It’s pride month after all, what better time!
