Daily Prompt – Aug 6, 2026

I don’t know if this is the direction intended by this prompt but this is the first thing I thought of. I no longer worry about my rent/mortgage payment going up. Here’s the catch, I don’t worry about this not because we’re in a financial place to manage (we are) but because I have set us up not to have to anticipate it in the first place. It won’t happen. We own our home so no rent. Mortgage is a fixed interest rate and we have no escrow. I discovered many years ago that escrow accounts add more anxiety than security. They are the number one cause of fluctuations in mortgage payments. By paying taxes and insurance out of pocket, I can save up for them and budget accordingly without being surprised by a nasty sudden increase in my monthly payment that I was not prepared for.
