What’s the best advice you’d give to someone younger than you?
I have lots of good advice for people younger than me. I don’t know which is technically the best as that is rather subjective and it’s all a bit cliche. However, much like stereotypes, cliches exist for a reason and I give the advice after years of experience to back it up. Below is the list of things I would advise those younger than me, in no particular order:
- Don’t be afraid to make the leap but have always have a safety net.
- You are never to old to start over
- Listen to your elders, then carve your own path
- You don’t need to know everything now, life is the greatest teacher
- Trust your gut, its smarter than you think
- Save but also spend, life needs to be lived and you can’t take it with you beyond the grave.
- You are entitled to nothing but what you have earned
- Be real, be authentic, but don’t be an asshole
- Find work that you are driven to do but be wary of turning passions into careers
- Ice cream for breakfast is absolutely ok, on occasion
