Daily Prompt – May 1, 2026

In reality, I probably have more than 1 but if I write about all of them I will likely end up repeating myself a few times. In fact I’m pretty sure I’ve covered a few of them already in previous posts.

I will say this quote is probably pretty obscure. It’s from Mark Harmon’s last season on NCIS. It’s actually one of Gibb’s rules, rule 91. Rule 91 states: “when you decide to walk away, don’t look back.” I loved this so much I got it tattooed on my chest. Well technically I got “always remember rule 91” tattooed along with a scene similar to the scene from the show.

This original struck a chord when I decided to walk away from my job at the hospital. The quote and the tattoo were a reminder not to look back, no matter how much I missed it or how bad things might seem. That I made that choice for a reason and I needed to follow it through. Looking back would only lead to going back and I couldn’t do that. I had lost my zest for that environment. Going back there would be disastrous. I was looking at other hospitals but even that was not really what I needed.

Now, that quote and the tattoo is a reminder that I made the right choice and that whenever I reach the point that I need to walk away from something, I need to trust my gut and not look back.
