What’s something you used to believe as a kid that seems ridiculous now?
I’m sure most of you are expecting me to write about the tooth fairy or the Easter bunny or some other childhood myth we were told that is just utter nonsense. I want to remind you that I was not a normal child. I didn’t ever believe in these things.
No the thing I believed as a child that now not only seems utterly ridiculous but is absolutely untrue is that the rules apply to everyone.
This could potentially be my AuDHD speaking. But the rules do not apply to everyone. I am not just talking about how the rich get away with things the poor do not. I’m talking about how In kindergarten, I got in trouble for talking because I was trying to make the other kids follow a rule. I’m talking about how when I worked at one hospital, I got in trouble for parking in the same lot as my coworkers all because I followed both the rule that says register your car for a parking pass and the rule that everyone from our shift should park in x lot. Apparently those rules conflict or only I got in trouble.
Those are just some examples. You see it all the time though. Your HOA cites one person but not another for the exact same thing.
Rules do not apply to everyone. It’s sad. They should.
